Our seniors got back to winning ways after last weeks league defeat. However, they had to do it the hard way.
In a first half which was evenly matched by both sides, it was Finglas who took the lead after 25 minutes but this didnโt deter the visitors as we still tried to create some openings.
The 2nd half was only 4 minutes old when the hosts doubled their lead, however Stamullen responded quickly with a goal on minute 53, when the Finglas keeper could only parry the ball out from Stonesโs cross for Barrett to tap in from close range.
Stamullen continued to up the ante and with 15 minutes to go when Caffrey found Barrett, who claimed a brace firing it by the keeper to make it 2-2. The game was now poised for an eventful end and neither side could find the answer so extra-time prevailed. The tie was to be settled on penalties and it was Stamullen that ended up victorious, winning 5-3.
