After finishing joint top with Old Bawn in our first season in the UCFL, we were on the wrong end of a 2-0 Play-Off Final result to determine the winners of 3B back in June.
Our reward was promotion to Division 3A and Team Zimbabwe were our first opponents in the divisionโฆ
The Seniors started the game more lively and Captain Barrett put Stamullen into the lead from the spot. Minutes later, Barrett then turned provider for Cassin who stood composed and fired it past the oncoming keeper to double our lead.
The hosts did not lie down and were creating chances of their own that Roche, in goal, was equal to.
The 2nd period started off more of the same and Stamullen made it 3-0, when Donnelly got on the end of a Dunphy corner.
Wogan had his say on the match as he found the corner of the net to make it 4-0 after a precise pass from Barrett.
Team Zimbabwe did get one back, but it was a mere consolation as the game ticked into the final five minutes, Wogan turned provider for the oncoming Butler who beat the keeper at the near post to put the game beyond doubt.
