2 weeks can be a long time in football. These sides had met 14 days previously in the Bedlow Cup Final that saw our seniors victorious. But, the League Shield Semi-Final was at stake in the 4th match-up against these sides.
The visitors started off the brighter, but Stamullen then started creating chances and Woganโs goal was the end product of some excellent football being played. McAllister spotted Donnelly running and he found him with a pin-point pass. Donnellyโs cross was perfectly weighted into the path of Wogan who picked his spot. Stamullen were now on the front foot.
The match became more of a battle as tackles were flying in and the some off the ball incidents that the ref didnโt see, didnโt help matters.
Credit to Decies, they made it 1-1 just before the break which set up the 2nd half for a winner take all game.
We were creating some chances, but Decies were equal to it and they pressed for a winner. Their 2nd goal came just after the hour mark and Stamullen had it all to do.
Butler played a sublime pass into Wogan, who couldnโt get the ball out of his feet quick enough and the keeper was able to save. Stamullen kept applying the pressure but couldnโt get the inevitable equaliser and as we were chasing the equaliser, Decies caught us on the break and made it 3-1 with the final kick of the game.
